Tummel Bridge Power Station
Salus Safety Solutions are in the process of providing high level health and safety support to our client, Global Infrastructure Ltd, who have been appointed as Principal Contractor by SSE on the Tummel Bridge Power Station refurbishment project.
The Tummel scheme stretches from Dalwhinnie, famous for its whisky distillery, in the north, to the remote Rannoch Station in the west, and the town of Pitlochry in the east. This iconic structure has played a critical role in providing energy to Scottish homes and businesses since its construction in 1933.
The £50m project involves the replacing of the hydro station’s two turbines, which were originally installed when Tummel Bridge started producing energy in 1933. Once completed, Tummel Bridge’s potential output will increase from 34 to 40 megawatts (MW) and will extend its working life to at least the year 2050.
Salus are proud to be involved in such a prestigous project within the a historically signicant building, and share our clients’ and SSE’s shared vision of a sustainable future for Scotland and the United Kingdom.
